Justin Aversano
Justin Aversano is a photographer, humanist and social entrepreneur who uses his art to capture the world around him. He does this by taking photos of moments, faces, and communities that he encounters, creating a connection between his art and the world. His project Twin Flames is a visual tribute to his fraternal twin whom he never knew because of a miscarriage his mom had around six or seven months. To explore the concept of twindom through immersive portraits, Justin photographed 100 sets of twins. By using three different film formats, he aimed to create an "intentional phenomenology" that examines the shared experiences and cultural significance of twins in society. Through this body of work, Justin aims to provide a unique perspective on the magic and causality of biology and the ways in which twins and multiple siblings are viewed across various cultures, both past and present. Twin Flames is a powerful tribute to the bond that twins share and a thought-provoking exploration of the role that twins play in our world.
